Welcome Home Skagit is partnering with area churches to provide a safe location for our unhoused neighbors who are living in their vehicles to park overnight without the threat of harrassment, being targeted by preditors, or threatened by violence. We will preform program management for the host churches with an on-site manager, or 'camp host', supported by volunteers. Welcome Home Skagit is about to embark upon beginning Step-Three of our Five-Step Plan. We are actively doing our due diligence to lease a building in South Mount Vernon to open a Resource Center and Thrift Shop that will also house our business office from which to oversee all of our projects from. This center will be a peer-operated, volunteer operation to better serve our unhoused neighbors in Mount Vernon and throughout Skagit County. Volunteers will assist with guests in setting goals, matching resources, and employment skills. They will also work in all aspects of the thrift shop, as well as assist with office duties.
